In Germany, even basic savings accounts offer higher interest rates than in Korea. While in Korea, you need to deposit in savings or time deposits to earn interest rates in the 4% range, in Germany, you can earn around 3% interest even on your regular payroll account (although some accounts may have monthly fixed fees).

Personal Experience

I discovered Trade Republic while searching for stock trading platforms on community forums. It’s easy and fast to trade stocks and coins, and most importantly, it has the lowest fees. You only pay a 1 euro fee for stock trades. You can also set up reservation trades to buy or sell stocks at a desired price.

I wasn’t able to buy stocks at the low prices I wanted, but I was still able to earn a profit by receiving a 4% annual interest payout at the end of each month.

Trade Republic Debit Card

You can also apply for and receive a free check card from Trade Republic. I applied for a 50 euro paid card. The Euro version is a mirror mode credit card, and I couldn’t help but want to own one because it was advertised so beautifully. So, as you can see in the picture, I started spending an amount equivalent to the monthly interest rate.

It took me 3 months to get approved for the card and another 2-3 months to receive it.

This is because the card offers an incredible 1% Cash Back on all purchases. While most credit cards have monthly fees, Trade Republic does not. You get a card for free and earn 1% pure Cash Back on the amount you spend on the card… so you should definitely apply and take advantage of this benefit!

In Germany, you can easily get a Tax No. and open an account just by doing an Anmeldung. So, if you’re planning to come to Germany, I highly recommend opening an account.
