Jeju Air Accident: Seeking the Truth   

8:54 AM: Aircraft requested landing clearance from air traffic control.

8:57 AM: Air traffic control alerted the aircraft about bird activity.

Between 8:58 AM and 8:59 AM: Aircraft declared a “Mayday” to air traffic control. However, the aircraft attempted an emergency climb, known as a go-around, instead of aborting the landing. A “Mayday” call typically indicates an imminent crash and an inability to control the aircraft. ▶ While it’s possible that the aircraft’s speed was too high for a normal go-around, a thorough investigation is needed to determine the truth.

9:01 AM: The pilot informed air traffic control that they were aiming for runway 19 instead of runway 01. Given that both engines and landing gear were inoperable at the time, it appears the pilot had little room for other options.

9:02 AM: The aircraft attempted an emergency belly landing in the opposite direction.

9:03 AM: The aircraft collided with an embankment at the end of the runway, causing a massive explosion. ▶ The reason for the existence of the embankment, a critical obstacle in the explosion, needs to be investigated. Following the alert, fire trucks arrived to extinguish the fire.

9:45 AM: Rescue operations began, and only two crew members from the tail section were saved.

This accident is truly heartbreaking. 

I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and friends.

I pray that the truth will be revealed and that such a tragedy never happens again..

진실은 밝혀지게 되어 있다.

나만 아는 진실이라고 해도

드러내기 싫은 진실이라더라도

진실은 드러난다. 

아이러니하게도

감추려고 하면 할수록 더 드러난다.

이 세상은 더더욱 투명해지고 있다.

정보의 발달로

더 많은 이들이

다양한 증거들과 정보들을 나눌 수 있다.

처음부터 감출 것이 없는

투명한 삶을 일상화하는 것.

그것이 진실로 사는 것이다.

가혹하게도 진실은

결국 남겨진 자 들이 감당해야 할 몫이다.

그 슬픔과 아픔은  

같은 고통이 반복되지 않도록

그렇게 규명되고

그렇게 개선하는 것…

그것이 진실이 원하는 사랑이다.

<제주항공 사고, 필요한 진실>

– 8시 54분: 항공기→관제탑 착륙 허가 요청

– 8시 57분: 관제탑→항공기 조류 이동 주의 알림

– 8시 58분~59분 中: 항공기→관제탑 ‘메이데이’ 통보

  다만 착륙을 포기하고 급하게 재상승, 고어라운드

   : 메이데이는 이미 추락한다는 신호였음, 비행기 조정 불가 상태

     ▶속도가 너무 높아 급하게 재상승 할 수도 있었겠으나, 진실 규명 필요

– 9시 01분: 01번 활주로가 아닌 19번 활주로 방향으로 착륙을 기장이 알림

당시 양쪽엔진 및 렌딩기어 모두 제어가 불가능 하여, 다른 판단할 여유가 없었던 것으로 보임

– 9시 02분: 반대방향으로 비상 동체착륙 시도

– 9시 03분: 제동되지 않은 채 활주로 막바지 둔턱에 충돌로 큰 폭발

     ▶폭발의 결정적인 장애물인 둔턱의 존재 이유 규명 필요

  이 후 경보 발령과 함께 소방차 화재 진압

– 9시 45분: 구조 시작, 꼬리부분의 승무원 2명만 구조

  정말 가슴이 미여지는 사고입니다.

  삼가 고인님들의 명복을 빌며, 

  남겨진 가족, 지인님들 가슴 깊이 위로 드리며

  꼭 진실이 규명되고 같은 사고가 일어나지 않기를 기도합니다.
